The Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act of 2017
This bill will ultimately provide protection to dogs and cats in the 44 states that currently have no law prohibiting the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donating dogs or cats to be slaughtered for human consumption.
It is with the utmost importance that the Federal government implement national animal cruelty laws in all 51 states and explicitly ban the slaughter of dogs and cats for human consumption.
Police-Canine Encounters Protection Act
It is estimated that one dog is shot every 98 minutes nationwide. This proposed bill will mandate police training to teach officers how to deal with dog interactions without using lethal force in California. This training will give police the tools they need to properly recognize and interpret a dog's body language and act accordingly.
